360 mixed reality overview
13:00 - 13:55
Google introduced the ability to produce and view 360 degree video in 2014. This was done by using a multi-lens camera system, a method to stitch the captured images and an application to view the final result using a cellphone placed in a box called cardboard.
Preceding that, in 2005, Unity Technologies released a game engine called UNITY 3D that can produce applications playable on many different platforms such as desktops, smart phones and gaming systems. These engines contain physics and lighting algorithms that are computed by default on objects which are described in worlds created by the developer.
Videos authored in the 360 degree format can be integrated into applications developed using these game engines.
It is the intention to give an overview of how to create 360 video content and incorporate them into a gaming engine.
Subjects: google VR 360 video; gaming engines; unity3D, React Native.
